CHILDREN'S SERVICES |

Tehama County Child Welfare Services, a division of the Tehama County Department of Social Services, is legally mandated to protect children from abuse and neglect.
Whenever possible, Tehama County Child Welfare Services strives to preserve family unity. Every effort is made to help abusive or neglectful parents improve their capacity to "parent" so their children can safely remain in their care or be returned to their care. When reunification efforts are unsuccessful, it is the goal of Child Welfare Services to secure a safe and permanent family home for every child.
Tehama County Child Welfare Services receives an average of 200 referrals of child abuse or neglect each month. Tehama County has approximately 150 children in foster care each month.
Due to the number of children in out of home care, Tehama County is always in need of foster parents. If you are interested in fostering a child or wish to adopt, Licensing welcomes the opportunity to talk with you. Both singles and couples are equally encouraged to foster a child. All our foster parents receive financial reimbursement for the care of the child as well as on-going support and free training. Every child comes with his/her own Medical insurance to cover the cost of all vision, dental and medical care. As a foster parent, you will become a member of a team of professionals consisting of social workers, teachers, counselors and doctors, all working together to address the needs of the child. Our Foster Parent Liaison, veteran foster parent of over twenty years, is always available with advice, support and answers to your questions. The Licensing Social worker is readily available to answer any questions or concerns regarding training, licensing regulations, and home health and safety compliance standards.
Tehama County Child Welfare Services offers State licensing for Tehama County residents.
Information on State licensing is available on-line at California Community Care Licensing Division's website.
